Description

A small-batch dual extract of UK-grown reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) fruiting bodies, made in Dorset by Spore & Bloom.

About reishi

Reishi, known in China as lingzhi, is a glossy, lacquered red-brown bracket fungus that grows on hardwood. It has appeared in Chinese texts, art and legend for around two thousand years, often as a symbol of longevity, and it is traditionally associated with evening and restorative routines. Its woody texture means it has always been prepared as a tea or extract rather than eaten.

How it’s made

We use whole reishi fruiting bodies grown in the UK. Each batch is extracted twice: in hot water with the help of ultrasound, and separately in ethanol. Hot water and ethanol draw out different naturally occurring constituents, which matters with reishi in particular, as its triterpenes are largely alcohol-soluble. The two extracts are combined into one tincture at a 1:3 ratio.

How to take it

Shake well. Take 1–2ml daily, directly or added to water, juice or tea. Do not exceed 3ml per day. A 50ml bottle lasts about 25 days at the suggested amount.

Ingredients

Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) fruiting body extract, water, plant-derived ethanol (30% alcohol).
