About turkey tail

Turkey tail is a thin bracket fungus that grows in overlapping tiers on dead hardwood, and it’s a common sight in British woodlands all year round. Its name comes from the bands of brown, tan and grey across each cap, which resemble a fanned turkey’s tail. It has a long history in traditional East Asian practice and is one of the most widely researched mushrooms, particularly for its polysaccharides.

How it’s made

Our turkey tail is foraged by hand from local UK woodlands. It’s too tough to eat, so it has traditionally been prepared by long extraction. We extract the fruiting bodies twice: in hot water with the help of ultrasound, and separately in ethanol. Each solvent draws out different naturally occurring constituents, and the two extracts are combined into one tincture at a 1:3 ratio.

How to take it

Shake well. Take 1–2ml daily, directly or added to water, juice or tea. Do not exceed 3ml per day. A 50ml bottle lasts about 25 days at the suggested amount.
